William Dennis Minner

MILFORD - William "Bill" Dennis Minner, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Bayhealth/Milford Memorial Hospital. Bill was born in Houston, son of the late Dennis and Elsie (Hayes) Minner. He was a plant worker with the E.I. Dupont Company in Seaford for 38 years. Mr. Minner was an Army veteran of WWII and was very proud of his service to our country. Bill served under Audie Murphy and was a decorated veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star commendations. He was a member of the Houston U.M. Church, Houston Volunteer Fire Company, VFW in Milford and Loyal Order of Moose in Harrington. William was an avid baseball fan, especially the Yankees. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing the slots. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Roger Minner. William is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Phyllis (Armour) Minner; a daughter, Jane M. Ward and husband James E. Jr.; a granddaughter, Rhonda Owens and husband James; a brother, Robert Minner; and sister, Ida Johnson; and his dog buddy, Daisey. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford with visitation after noon. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park. Contributions can be made in his memory to Houston U.M. Church, 235 Broad Street, Houston, De 19954.
