EASTON, Md. - William C. Storey of Easton died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, in Talbot Hospice House, Easton with his wife and children at his side.

Mr. Storey was born April 20, 1927, in Peekskill, N.Y., son of the late William H. and Lillian (Smyth) Storey, who both emigrated from Ireland.

He was raised in Eastchester, N.Y., where he graduated from high school. He earned his engineering degree from New York University.

Mr. Storey served at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland during the Korean War.

Most of his professional career was spent with General Foods Corp. He worked in operations at plants in Battle Creek, Mich.; Kankakee, Ill. and Dover, Del., before returning to corporate headquarters in White Plains, N.Y.

He spent five years in Brussels, Belgium, as operations director of the General Foods International Division. After returning to the United States, he became vice president of operations of the Gaines Division of General Foods. He retired in 1987 from Quaker Oats Corp. after a buyout situation, and moved to the Eastern Shore.

Mr. Storey was an avid boater and belonged to the Miles River Yacht Club. He enjoyed building Habitat for Humanity houses and working with the "Thursday Crew" until he was physically unable to do so. He and his wife of 56 years loved to travel and made extensive trips throughout the world. Above all, he loved to have his children and grandchildren for family get-togethers.

He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in St. Michaels.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by a brother, James Storey.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Bill Jr. and Anne Storey of Annapolis, Tim and Julie Storey of Fairfax, Va. and Tom and Jane Storey of Herndon, Va.; a daughter and a son-in-law, Ann and Mike Kumpf of Finksburg; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Jan. 27 in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, St. Michaels.

Burial was Saturday in Hartsdale, N.Y.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601.
