William Brice Johnson Jr.

HARTLY - William Brice Johnson Jr., of Hartly, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 74. Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Clayton, the son of the late William Brice Johnson, Sr. and Olive Bickling Johnson. He retired as a Supervisor for Letical Corp. in Middletown. He served his country with honors in the United States Navy. Mr. Johnson loved horses and use to race horses in Delaware. He enjoyed playing the guitar, and was an accomplished musician, and played in several bands. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette DeShong Johnson; and two sisters, Jane Schwan and Phyllis Marie Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sisters, Janet Thomas of Millsboro, Sylvia Anglen-Hollifield of Gainesville, Fla., and Betty Ann Fails and her husband Mike of Clayton; an uncle, Lester E. Johnson and his wife Jebba of Clayton; and two aunts, Hazel Hamilton of Clayton, and Thelma Johnson of Dover. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011, in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
