Wendell Aaron Wilkerson Sr.

SMYRNA - Wendell Aaron Wilkerson Sr., 60, was called home to our heavenly Father on April 22, 2011, by natural causes. He was born July 9, 1950, in Barclay, Md., to Elsie O. Wilkerson and the late Hubert A. Wilkerson. He was preceded in death by his father, son, Dewayne, and grandparents. He enjoyed his life to the fullest and loved talking and helping anyone when he could. He was a very dedicated "Pop Pop" and enjoyed being at his grandsons' sporting events. He received his education from Kennard Elementary and High Schools, graduating from Queen Anne's County High School in 1968. After school he enlisted in the Army and after an honorable discharge, served in the Army Reserve. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Frances; two sons, Robert and Wendell Jr.; one daughter, Charlene; mother, Elsie; three sisters, Cynthia Winchester, Brenda Wall, and Denise Wilkerson; one brother, Aaron Stevens; eight grandsons, LaQuam, Dee, Kyaire, PJ, Jawaune, William, Elijah, and Jyaire; one great-grandson, Elijah; special cousins, Minister Russell Winchester, Kennard Winchester, and Rev. Rosalind 'Bubbles' Hoxter; close friends, Eddie Watts, William Richards, and Mike; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, at St. Paul's UAME Church, Smyrna, at with a viewing two hours prior to the service. Letter of condolence may be sent and guestbook may be signed at www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
