Wayne F. Rogers

FREDERICA - Wayne F. Rogers, age 72, of Frederica, died at home on May 2, 2011, due to complications of cancer. The Rogers family previously lived in Fallsington, Pa., before retiring to the Frederica area in 2004. Wayne was born on Aug. 2, 1938, in Trenton, N.J. He was the son of the late Vernon L. and Helen M. Rogers. He graduated from Trenton High School and attended Trenton State College in New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Sierra and was honorably discharged in 1961. While living in Pennsylvania he was an owner/operator of a Tastykake franchise and served in the New Jersey area. He was employed by Chambers Bus Service for the last 6 years while living in Delaware. He enjoyed many years of family vacations, golfing, bowling and swimming. He was also very involved in Little League as both a coach and a sponsor. He was a member of a local band boosters and an active democratic committee member. He also served on several Pennsylvania school boards and volunteered in Delaware as a Delware Certified Citizen Naturalist. Wayne was predeceased by his siblings, Jane E. Dublois, Vernon L. Rogers, and Lynda J. Rogers. Mr. Rogers will be dearly missed by his wife of 20 years, Kathleen F. (Bunting) Rogers; and daughters, Chelsea M. and Kaitlyn L., all of Frederica; his son, Jeffrey W. Rogers; and granddaughter, Charley Lin of Fairless Hills, Pa.; siblings, Louise C. Minnick of St. Louis, Joanna A. Schwartz, and Robert L. Rogers of Trenton, N.J., and Donald B. Rogers of Medford Lakes, N.J. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 9, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 113 Lotus St., Dover. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
