Virginia Lucille Wilson

Virginia Lucille Wilson, 81

HARTLY - Virginia Lucille Wilson of Hartly went home to live with God on Sunday, March 4, 2007, in Silver Lake Nursing Home. She was 81.

She was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Denton, Md., the daughter of the late Clifton Hubbard Sr. and Della Goldsboro.

Virginia received her education in the public schools of the Clayton and Dover area.

She was a member of the Lockwood Church, now Emmanuel A.M.E., Hartly.

She was married to the late Sylvester Wilson Sr. on Jan. 10, 1943. Four children were born of this union.

Virginia worked at Leed's Travel Wear, Clayton, for a number of years.

She retired from the state of Delaware, having been employed by the Delaware Home for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna.

"Cille of Aunt Cille," as she was known by family and friends, was notorious for helping others and sharing what she had to help others in need.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Hubbard; and four brothers, John Goldsboro, Charles Goldsboro, Robert Hubbard and Clifton Hubbard Jr.

She is survived by three sons, Sylvester S. Wilson Jr. and wife, Rose of Hartly, Donald L. Wilson and wife, Bridget of Brunswick, Ga., and Richard S. Wilson of Smyrna; a daughter, Linda Casson-Hackett of Dover; a brother, John Hubbard and wife, Roberta of Philadelphia; five sisters, Elizabeth Conner of Dover, Jean Miller and husband, Delmont also of Dover, Doris Tate of Millington, Md., Irene Garvin and husband, James of Wilmington and Gladys Wilson and husband, Charles of Dover; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Emmanuel A.M.E. Church, Hartly where friends may view two hours prior.

Burial will be in Emmanuel Church Cemetery.

Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
