Vincetta DiSabatino, 90 WILMINGTON - Vincetta 'Vinnie' (Cericola) DiSabatino passed away peacefully on Jan. 5, 2010, eight days short of her 91st birthday. Vinnie had a rare gift for making friends and enjoying life. With a warm smile and a kind, open heart, she reached out to people and made friends wherever she went. She liked nothing more than to laugh and enjoy the company of family and friends at home or at a party. A superb cook, Vinnie and her late husband Phil operated successful restaurants in Wilmington for a number of years. By request, she recorded her special recipes in a cookbook that is cherished by family members. A Wilmington native, she lived nearly all of her life in the city, most recently at The Heather Green Commons. Phil was her high school sweetheart; they were happily married for 56 years. In recent years, she lived with her daughter and family in California and Florida, spreading her warmth and love to new friends on both coasts. Vinnie is the daughter of the late Selvino and Rachel Cericola. She is survived by her loving son and daughter and their spouses, Dr. Mario and Carol DiSabatino of Lewes, and Daralice DiSabatino and George Palmer of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to the Beeson Funeral Home of North Wilmington, 412 Philadelphia Pike, on Sunday evening, Jan.10, from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helena's Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vinnie's grandson and his wife, Christian missionaries Mark and Natasha Palmer, #0442851, Campus Crusade for Christ, PO Box 628222, Orlando, FL 32862. www.griecocares.com.
