Vannetta (Harris) Chase, 78
FELTON - Vannetta (Harris) Chase, of Felton, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 7, 2008. She was 78.
Born April 14, 1929, in Willow Grove, she was daughter of the late Myrtle Harris and Melvina Marshall.
Vannetta graduated from James H. Groves in Woodside.
She retired from Playtex in Dover, and worked as a VNA until her health failed.
In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to the radio, cooking and reading.
Vannetta was a member of the World Wide Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Chase; stepmother Mammie Harris; brother Stanley Baynard; sister Virginia Wilson; granddaughter Danita Harris; and great-grandson David Waddler Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Caleb Harris of Magnolia, Dwight Harris of Baltimore and Keith Harris of Milford; her daughters, Avis Hicks of Magnolia, Lynn Lambert of New Castle, Karen Ford of Chester, Pa., and Maxine Young of Laurel; daughter-in-law, Shirlet Harris; sons-in-law, Earl Hicks Sr. and Leon Lambert; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover, where friends may also call two hours prior to the service.
Interment will be in Gibbs Memorial Cemetery, Woodside.
Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
