MILFORD - Tom Brath Jr., of Milford, formerly of Pompton Plains, N.J., passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Bayhealth Medical Center, Milford, at the age of 83. Tom was born in Winthrop, Mass., the son of the late Thomas Brath, Sr. and Inez (Gysel) Brath. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary McLean Paton Brath, in 2008. He resided in Pompton Plains, N.J., before settling in Milford. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, serving during both W.W. II and the Korean Conflict. He was Vice President of Human Resources for the Crane Company in the Aerospace Engineering industry for many years. Tom was an Honorary member of the Pequannock Township First Aid and Rescue Squad serving the community for 25 years. During his years of service he held many different positions, including past President. He is also an Honorary member of TriBoro First Aid Squad. In 1993 he was named Pequannock Township Citizen of the Year. He is survived by two sons, James Brath and his wife Jennifer, of Pompton Plains, N.J., and Tom P. Brath and his wife Elaine, of Barry Lakes, N.J.; three daughters, Carolynn Tomin and her husband Nigel of Naples, Fla., Debbie Anest and her husband Michael, of Boonton, N.J., and Jacqueline Ricker and her husband Scott of Haskell, N.J.; one sister, Jacqueline LaRochelle of East Springfield, Mass.; and ten grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Pompton Valley Presbyterian Church, Sunset Road, Pompton Plains, N.J., on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to: Pequannock Township First Aid and Rescue Squad or Salvation Army. Arr. by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford, DE.
