Theresa (Hurdle) Boyd, 79

LEWES - Theresa (Hurdle) Boyd of Lewes died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 79.

She was born June 7, 1927, in Norfolk, Va., daughter of the late George and Florine Hurdle.

Mrs. Boyd's greatest joy and passion was cooking and preparing food for others. She worked as a cook for the University of Delaware College of Marine Studies on the Cape Henlopen Research Vessel as the head cook. She was known to have made the best meals afloat.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Session Boyd Sr.; a son, William Boyd; a sister, Florine Scott; and a nephew whom she loved like a son, George Hurdle.

She is survived by a son, Session Boyd Jr. of Georgetown; a sister, AnaBelle Hurdle Williams; four grandchildren, Melissa Boyd Washington of Virginia, William Boyd Jr. of Hawaii, Ocean Boyd of Alabama and Sherry Boyd of Maryland; and a step-granddaughter, Sherry Lyn Boyd of Alabama.

Services were in Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of choice.

Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services.
