Thelma Shane Knight, 98
CLAYTON, DE - Thelma Shane Knight passed peacefully on January 24, 2023.
She was born on October 5, 1924, to Edwin P. Shane and Ethel David Shane in the Stoeckle Hotel in Clayton, Delaware.
Mrs. Knight graduated from John Bassett Moore High School in Smyrna, Delaware. She worked for the Delaware Department of Motor Vehicles for 30 years. Mrs. Knight was a devoted member of Ewell's St. Paul United Methodist Church in Clayton, serving for many years as a Sunday school teacher and officer of the Morning Circle. She loved helping people in the community, visiting shut-ins, and helping with craft shows and church dinners. She and her husband Preston were involved in the preservation of Blackiston Methodist Church. Thelma was a lover of butterflies and hummingbirds. She loved collecting cookbooks and trying out new recipes. She enjoyed sightseeing trips with friends on Dawson Bus Tours.
In addition to her parents; she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Preston L. Knight; and brother-in-law, Edward Knight.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Urian; many, many cousins from the Shane and David families; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Knight family. In addition, she leaves a host of friends and special caregivers, Wanda, Vi, Tricia, Betty, Michelle, Rachel, Debbie, and Jaihla.
Services will be held at Faries Funeral Home in Smyrna, Delaware, on Monday, January 30, 2023. Visitation will be 10-12 am, services at 12 noon with interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
