Thelma P. Willis

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Thelma P. Willis died Dec. 17, 2012 at home. Mrs. Willis was born on July 10, 1928 in Millington, daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Robinson Wallace. She was a 1945 graduate of Galena High School. Her career began with Drug Fair and continued with Rite-Aid for over 30 years, retiring in 2010. She lived most of her life in Kennedyville where she was a member of the Kennedyville Vol. Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was the first female radio operator to dispatch fire calls in Kent County. Thelma enjoyed gardening and reading. Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Robert M. Willis in 1969; and a brother, Carlton Wallace. She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Leonardi and Nancy Meeks (Larry) both of Chestertown; a brother, Wayne Wallace of Clayton, Del; four grandchildren, Tina Marvel, Antonio 'Bucky' Leonardi, Thomas Fletcher (Gwen) and Robert 'Bubba' Fletcher (Tina); and seven great-grandchildren, Gregory and Jeremy Marvel, Kendel Leonardi, Madison and Cydni Fletcher and Jeffrey and Haley Coleman. Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. Burial in Still Pond Cemetery. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
