Thelma Evelyn (Darling) Martin Massie, 81
DOVER - Thelma Evelyn (Darling) Martin Massie, of Dover, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at State Street Assisted Living, Dover. She was 81.
Mrs. Massie was born June 10, 1926, in Harrington, to the late Elijah L. Darling and Ora F. (Remus) Darling.
She worked clerical for ILC and Standard Brands/Reichold Chemical Planet, Cheswold, from where she retired after many years. She then became a secretary for the State of Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife and retired again in 1994.
Mrs. Massie was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Dover.
She volunteered for many organizations, including the Modern Maturity Center and the Schwartz Center, both in Dover.
Mrs. Massie enjoyed line dancing and reading.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 47 years, Kenneth J. Martin, in January 1989; her only daughter, Maryann Martin Zdana, in 1989; two sisters, Hazel and Doris; two brothers, Bernard and Donald; and her second husband, Homer Massie, in 2001.
Mrs. Massie is survived by her brother, Etzel Darling of Dover; three sisters, Ruth Semans and her husband Harry of Dover, Myrtle Wilkins and her husband Norman of Milford and Frances Moore and her husband Herb of Viola; two grandchildren, Toni Stalnaker and her husband Carl of Hayes, Va., and Juliea Rittenhouse and her husband Daniel of Dover; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
