The Rev. Stephen Lawrence Wallace

The Rev. Stephen Lawrence Wallace, 58

CHESTER, Md. - The Rev. Stephen Lawrence Wallace of Chester died at home on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, of cancer. He was 58.

The Rev. Wallace was born Aug. 14, 1949, in Copperhill, Tenn., to the Rev. Robert O'Kelley and Ebba Lawrence Wallace.

He was a United Methodist minister with the Peninsula-Delaware Conference.

The Rev. Wallace began his ministry in 1978 in Mardela Springs, and also served churches in Bayview, Fairlee, Dover, Del., Federalsburg, Milton, Del., and was currently the minister of pastoral care at Kent Island United Methodist Church, Chester.

He received his bachelor's degree from Salisbury University and his Master of Divinity degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary.

Before entering the ministry, he served with the Army National Guard as a policeman in Cambridge, and with the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Rev. Wallace is survived by his wife of 26 years, Bonnie Keylon Wallace; his parents, the Rev. Robert O. and Ebba L. Wallace of Cleveland, Tenn.; two daughters, Maggie Cornelia Wallace of Sarasota, Fla., and Sarah Keylon Wallace of Cleveland; and aunts, uncles and cousins in Tennessee.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Kent Island United Methodist Church, 2739 Cox Neck Road, Chester, where friends may call one hour prior.

Burial will be in Tennessee.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Queen Anne's, 423 Thompson Creek Road, Stevensville, MD 21666; or the National Cancer Institute, Attn: Donations Department, Bethesda, MD 20892.
