DOVER - Susan Mary (Scott)McNamara of Dover and Antioch, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Friends may call on the family at Holy Cross Church, 631 South State Street, Dover, one hour prior.
Susan died peacefully with family by her side on April 8, 2018.
Born June 10, 1946 in Bridgeport, Conn., she was the daughter of Frank William Scott and V. Anne (Buecher) Scott.
Susan grew up in Wilmington, attending Ursuline Academy through her sophomore year and graduating from John Dickinson High School, where she was active in the theater program, in 1964, then from the U. of Delaware in 1968 with a BA in Music Education (certified professional piano teacher), and Wesley College, Dover (Summa Cum Laude, BS in Accounting) in 1985.
Susan was the National Young Mother of the Year in 1977.
After her graduation and marriage - while her husband Ed was completing law school - she taught music at Alexis I. DuPont Middle School, which she loved.
She worked in the Delaware State Treasurer's office for many years as administrator of the State's Deferred Compensation program.
Susan was a wonderful cook, knitter, seamstress and generous friend.
She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Edward R. McNamara of Dover; their three children, A. Nathan McNamara of New York City, N.Y., Anne Siobhan McNamara Hosein of Jersey City, N.J., and Megan M. Williams of Milford; five granddaughters, Sophia, Lucy and Kathryn Williams and Madeline and Hazel Hosein; and her brother, Frank William Scott, Jr. of Wilmington.
Memorial contributions in Susan's name may be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
