Stephen R. Donophan, 58

FELTON - Stephen R. Donophan, of Felton, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. He was 58. He was born in Aberdeen, Md., to the late Alvin Donophan and Mabel Donophan of Felton. Mr. Donophan worked for Seawatch International for the past 19 years as a forklift maintenance mechanic. He was a dedicated and hard worker. In his spare time, he enjoyed to tinker with anything mechanical. He was very knowledgeable in mechanics, and loved to take things apart. He enjoyed antique tractor shows and going to auctions, and collecting tools. He was a loving husband, patient father, gentle son, and kind brother. He truly loved his wife and family and was very thoughtful and considerate, but had a humorous and joking side. He will be sadly missed. Mr. Donophan was a member of the Goldsboro Wesleyan Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Mary L. Donophan of Felton; sons, Stephen Trevor Donophan of Chestertown, Md., Joshua Allen Sparks and his wife Laura of Richland, N.C., and Matthew R. Donophan of Felton; brothers, John Donophan of Woodside, and David Donophan of Felton; sisters, Gloria Nelligan of Felton, and Marie-Ann Donophan of Florida; and grandchildren, Jordan and Hannah Sparks. Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, July 17, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952, to help defray funeral expenses.
