Stanley James 'Butch' Jury, 61

LINCOLN - Stanley James "Butch" Jury, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at home. He was 61.

Mr. Jury was born on Jan. 24, 1947, in Chadwicks, N.Y., son of Gladys (Addington) Jury and the late Walter J. Jury.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Jury was employed as a foreman in the water pollution control department for Oneida County, N.Y., for 32 years, retiring in 2002.

Since his move from Utica to Delaware five years ago he had been employed on a part-time basis at separate times with Clean Cut Paving in Lewes, Southern States in Milford and Advance Auto in Dover.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking and would offer a helping hand at any time to family and friends.

Mr. Jury was a member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Chadwicks, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife of eight years, Alice F. Jury; his mother, Gladys A. Jury of Chadwicks; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Richard Modie of Monroe, Va., Mindy and Steven Petronella of Whitesboro, N.Y., and Barbara and Doug McGregor of Utica; one son and a daughter-in-law, Scott and Rebecca Henkle of Ilion, N.Y.; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter "Tom" and Peggy Jury of Clinton, N.Y.; a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and John Pope of Sauquoit, N.Y.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Richard and Anne Drake of Marcy, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Black of New Hartford, N.Y. and Marion Pollack of Whitesboro; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and special friends, Richard Burton and Larry and Janice Brittingham, all of Lincoln.

A memorial service will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit, N.Y.

Burial will be private.

Local arrangements made by Rogers Funeral Home, Milford.
