Sigrid E.J. Mills, 93
Sigrid E.J. Mills of Dover passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Westminster Village, Dover.
Mrs. Mills was born August 18, 1930 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Julius Bastke and Irma Nagel Bastke. In 1938 she and her mother and brother moved to Germany after her grandfather passed away and had spent her childhood there until moving back the United States in 1946.
She was a lab technician for 37 years at General Foods, retiring in 1986. Mrs. Mills was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. She volunteered with Delaware Hospice for 25 years, as well as Hospital Pastoral Care and nursing home contact. Sigrid established the Wesley Branches Ministry to lead others and also provide pastoral care, bringing members of Wesley Church and the community decades of care with singing hymns, goodies, and bringing flowers.
In addition to her parents and brother, she was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Mills and her daughter, Christel Solenthaler.
She is survived by her grandson, Robert J. Solenthaler and her niece, Kristen Seidel.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2024 at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hill Road, Dover 19904.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901 or pay forward kindness for another person in her memory.
Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
