DOVER - Sidney Courtney passed away Saturday, Mar. 11, 2017.
Mr. Courtney was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Mar. 16, 1950, to the late Catherine Moser and Harry Courtney.
Sidney was a social worker for the State of Delaware Department of Health and Social Services. He was a history buff who enjoyed posting historical documents on Facebook. Beyond his fascination with history was his love of sports, including football and baseball; he even umpired little league. Sidney also enjoyed photography, cruises with family and a good laugh. He had a wonderful sense of humor.
Mr. Courtney is survived by his wife of 46 years, Claudia (Strohmaier) Courtney; and their two sons, Wayne, of New Castle, and Mark, of Smyrna.
Services will be held 12 noon on Monday, Mar. 20, 2017, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Mar. 19, 2017, and one hour prior to services Monday. Burial will follow services on Monday at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to Delaware Hospice or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
