Shirley Ruth Staats of Smyrna passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Charles (Buster) Staats; her daughter Sharlene Bartsch; and her son Charles Staats III.
Shirley is survived by daughters Rosalie (Pierce) Martin, Jeannine Staats, and Teresa (John) Swartz, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother James C. Reynolds and sister Mary Lou Wheeler.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery.
