Shirley Jean Pierce, 58 BROOKVILLE, Pa. - Shirley Jean Pierce, 58, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Brookville Hospital. She was born on June 4, 1951, in Brookville, to the late Charles Edward Zipfel and Betty Allen Zipfel of Shinglehouse, Pa. She married William K. Pierce Sr. on April 2, 1971, in Coudersport, Pa. She lived in the Elmer/Monroeville area of New Jersey for many years and was the daughter-in-law of the late Franklin and Elnora Pierce of Monroeville, and worked for at Wm Schober and Sons in Monroeville, N.J., and later moved to Smyrna/Dover area of Delaware where she worked at Rick's Deli and as a clerk for Boscov's Department Store. After leaving Delaware where she had many special friends, she re-located to Pennsylvania has been active in volunteering at Jefferson County Historical Society in Brookville, Pa. and was on the Board of Directors of the PA-Roots of Pennsylvania non-profit web-based genealogy organization. She enjoyed quilting, family history research and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Janet Zipfel. She is survived by one daughter, Tracy Lynn (Jimmy) Blanchfield of Smyrna, Del.; one son, William K. Pierce Jr. of Brookville; five brothers and one sister, Charles Zipfel of North Olmstead, Ohio, Phillip Zipfel of New London, Pa., Virginia Kirchhoff of Elkart, Ind., and Steven Zipfel of Doylestown, Pa.; and two grandchildren. Services and visitation will be noon, Friday, Feb. 12, at Sigel United Methodist Church, Sigel, Pa. The Rev. Gary Sheesley will be officiating. Interment will be Brookville Cemetery, Brookville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Historical Society, 172 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. Arrangements by McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.
