Shirley C. Ellis

DOVER - Shirley C. Ellis, of Dover, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. She was 72. Mrs. Ellis was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Salem, N.J. She was a homemaker who worked part time for many years at the Boondocks Restaurant in Smyrna. Shirley enjoyed playing cards and working on crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed eating crabs, watching horses, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Ellis Sr. in 2005; and a daughter, Joyce Bowers. She is survived by her son, Cliff, Jr.; three daughters, Linda, Cindy, and Sally, and all of their spouses; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel located on 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19904. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
