
Sarah 'Sis' J. Roberts, 83
Sarah "Sis" J. Roberts of Sudlersville, MD formerly of Hartly, DE passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at Brookdale Nursing Home, Dover.
Mrs. Roberts was born May 27, 1939 in Chestertown, Maryland to the late Charles Franklin Nickerson and Dorothy Simpson Nickerson. She was raised in Templeville and graduated from Smyrna High School. After marrying her husband they spent the majority of their life in Hartly.
Immediately following graduation, she started work at the State of Delaware Dot Corp. After retiring from the state, she worked in the kitchen at Scott Nursing home for a short time and then stayed home to take care of her grandchildren. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Hartly United Methodist Church where she was very involved, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Studies and food drives. She was also a life member of the Hartly Volunteer Fire Company and the Mammie Warren Senior Center. Mrs. Roberts was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick G. Roberts, Sr.; brother, Edward "Ebbie" Nickerson; nieces, Rhonda Johnson and Janice Wyatt; and grandson, Joseph Johnson.
She is survived by her son, Frederick Roberts, Jr. of Hartly; brothers, William Nickerson and his wife Joan, Joseph Nickerson and Jim Nickerson and his wife Linda all of Hartly; grandchildren, Amanda Angelini and her husband Chad of Sudlersville, and Corey Roberts of Hartly; great grandchildren, Josh Fowler, Abbey Angelini, Brayden, Joseph and Kylie Roberts; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
