CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Sarah Elizabeth Rose Johnson of Chestertown went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 79.
Born Sept. 1, 1927, in Tannersville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Wesley Chancey and Lillian Johnson Rose.
She was a member of The American Legion 246, Betterton.
Mrs. Johnson enjoyed crossword puzzles and her cats and dog. She also loved her family and spending time with them.
She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Otho "John" Johnson in 2001; one brother, Wesley Rose; and one son, Walter William Coleman.
She is survived by four sons, Larry Coleman of Lynch, Robert Coleman of Centreville, Terry Coleman of Lynch and Russell Kersey of Lynch; four daughters, Sally Coleman of Chestertown, Kay Sigler of Morristown, Tenn., Cindy Kemp of Felton, Del., and Sharon Kemp of Felton; four sisters, Sandra Joiner of Chestertown, Marilyn Patterson of Chinqutique, Va., Marion Holleger of Dover, Del., and Ilda Potter of Hastings, Fla.; one brother, Ronald Rose of Rock Hall; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown. Family and friends may call two hours prior.
Interment will follow in Still Pond Cemetery.
