Sarah Allene (Duffy) Miller, 87

REHOBOTH BEACH - Sarah Allene (Duffy) Miller of Rehoboth Beach died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at home, surrounded by her loving family members after a lengthy illness. She was 87.

Sarah was born June 9, 1920, in Rehoboth Beach, to the late John E. and Rebecca (Cannon) Duffy.

She spent her entire life in Rehoboth Beach.

Sarah worked for many years for the John Lynch family of Rehoboth Beach.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, formerly Mt. Pleasant, serving as a United Methodist Woman, church treasurer, communion steward and Sunday school teacher.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Miller, in 1983.

She was survived by her two sons, Richard C. and his wife Janie Miller and Alphonso K. and his wife Linda Miller, all of Rehoboth Beach; two daughters, Gloria D. Miller of Rehoboth Beach, and Regina M. and her husband William Batson of Lewes; a sister, Flonnie R. Duffy of Rehoboth Beach; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Edna M. (Walter) Harmon of Rehoboth Beach, Edna Mae Miller of Lewes, and Irene Duffy of Rehoboth Beach; a cousin, John Cannon of Rehoboth Beach; her longtime friends, Bertha Turner, Ruth Tunnell, Gertrude Vann, Barbara Sumlin, Henrietta Pierson and the Norwood sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, adopted children and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jonathan Q. Hall and the staff at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, the Christiana Visiting Nurses and Meals on Wheels of Rehoboth Beach and Lewes.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Faith United Methodist Church, Church Street, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call two hours prior.

Burial will be in People's Memorial Park.
