Sara T. Gilliam Bodola, 90

HARRINGTON - Sara T. Gilliam Bodola of Harrington died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, in Milford Hospital. She was 90.

Mrs. Bodola was born Aug. 3, 1916, in Dover, daughter of the late Anna and Norris Garrison.

She married Lionel "Larry" Gilliam 1935. He spent his career on the Dover police force until his death in 1968.

Mrs. Bodola lived within 20 miles of Dover most of her life except for seven years in Midland, Mich.

She was one of the first employees at General Foods immediately after they came to Dover and she worked there until her retirement in 1986. She worked, and became proficient, with computers at General Foods long before they were in general use in the public. She made many friends there.

Her children and present husband remember her as one with a ready smile, who was always willing to participate in any activity, happy to help make things happen.

Mrs. Bodola loved to travel and went many places in the world, including China, Alaska, Mexico and New Zealand, Europe, Italy, England, Ireland, Egypt. She built patios, painted china for her family and friends, renovated furniture. Bob, Tom and Jeana all feel that her industrious nature helped them be more successful and useful in the lives.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Dr. Anthony Bodola of Harrington; her sons, Robert Gilliam of Grapevine, Texas, Thomas Gilliam of Durango, Colo.; her daughter, Dr. Jeana Thomas of Denver; her sister in law, Betty Garrison of Kitts Hummock; three grandchildren, Wade Gilliam, Kerry Gilliam and Jeffrey Gilliam; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
