Samuel P. Ansbach Sr.

HARRINGTON - Samuel P. Ansbach Sr., 84, of Harrington, left this earth and followed his Lord to Heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 16th. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late Samuel E. and Isabel Marie Ansbach. Sam was a member of Demola of Young Shriners until 1945, when he joined and proudly served in the US Army serving mostly in Ft. Hood, Texas. In 1947, he attended Penn State University for the next 3 years. In 1958, he became a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was saved June 9, 1962. He even did a little preaching at nursing homes. In December of 1970, Sam joined the Gideons International of West Chester, Pa. In 1975, he and his wife Betty moved to Delaware and became members of Faith Community Church in Camden. Sam served on the State Cabinet for Gideons Kent South from 1978-1981 and Vice President from 1981–1984, and continued to serve in other positions through the years. Sam worked as a job estimator for D.E. Resinger Inc. for 13 years and Roberts Construction Co. of Frederica for 29 years retiring in 2004. He was preceded in death by first wife of 51 years, Betty C. Ansbach. He is survived by sons, Samuel P. Ansbach Jr. of Dowington, Pa., and Harry W. Ansbach and his wife Donna of Felton; daughters, Verna Kay Seace and her husband Ray of Downington, Pa., Maxine M. Ansbach of Spring City, Pa., Carla May-Giralt and her husband Olivier of St. Marcell, Paulel France; sister, Sara Lou Richardson of Bethel Park, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and wife, Winona Ansbach of Harrington. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Faith Community Church, Route 13, Camden, where visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21, at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear.
