MARYDEL, Md. - Samuel Marshall Ward of Marydel died Sunday, April 29, 2007, in Memorial Hospital of Easton. He was 73.
Mr. Ward was born April 19, 1934, in Germantown, Pa., son of the late Samuel M. II and Janet Markley Ward.
He moved to the area in 1950 and began working for UL Harman in 1956 and retired from there in 1996 as the manager of shipping and receiving. He served for more than three terms as town commissioner for Marydel.
Mr. Ward enjoyed country and blue grass music, vegetable gardening and crabbing, and sharing his harvest and catch with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ginder.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Ann Ward; a daughter Pamela Dove of Harmony; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Joyce Ward of Denton, Paul and Janice Ward of Snow Hill and Peter Ward of Henderson; a sister, Judith McClyment of Daytona, Fla.; two grandchildren, Brian and Kelly Ward of Hartly, Del. and Tiffany Dove of Harmony; two great-grandsons, Hunter Ward and Cory Walls; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, P.A.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro.
