MILLSBORO - Samuel Magee Keenan went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014. He was born in Providence, R.I. on March 27, 1927 to the late John & Helena Keenan. Sam was married to his loving wife Irene for 50 years. Sam spent his lifetime as a businessman and entrepreneur as owner/operator of Millsboro Lanes, a realtor, salesman, C & C Homes, owner of Sam's Furniture, Sam's Mobile Homes & Sheds, and Keenan Rentals. He was a lifetime member of Millsboro VFW #7244 and served as an ambulance attendant for 10 years. Mr. Keenan served in the U. S. Navy in World War II as a shipmate on the USS Gosper. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, sports, gardening, and his pets. In addition to his parents, Mr. Keenan is preceded in death by his wife, Irene J. Keenan, and a son, Samuel D. Keenan. He is survived by his son, Joseph P. Keenan; his daughter, Mary K. Lawson, his son and daughter-in-law, James J. & Beatrice C. Keenan; his daughter and son-in- law, Barbara K. and Robert A. Elliott; and daughters, Irene H. Keenan, Joan M. Keenan, and Victoria A. Sanfeliz. Mr. Keenan was also blessed with 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, where friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Union Cemetery, Georgetown. A dinner reception will be held at the Millsboro Town Center and all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to Millsboro Fire Co., PO Box 83, Millsboro, Del 19966.
