Samuel J. 'Uncle Sam' Everage, 72
SMYRNA - Samuel J. "Uncle Sam" Everage passed away on Sept. 25, 2021 while at home. Sam was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam war. He worked at Formosa Plastic in Delaware City for 42 years before retiring.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Norma Jean "Aunt Jean" Everage; daughter, Kim Sherwood (Brian), and their son Alec; sisters, Fay LeGates, Mary Conaway, and Carol Jackson and all their families. He is also survived by his extended family, Tommy Emerson, Elaine Charles (Jim), Charlie Emerson (Sheree), Faye Carrigan (Mike), Lisa Emerson Wilk, Sharon Emerson, Karen Pritt; many nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, cousins and many many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Brian "Duke" Everage; parents, Samp & Martha Everage; sisters, Edith Cornett, Irene Elliott; and brothers, Thomas Everage, Roy Everage, and Ronnie Everage.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to either the Citizens' Hose Co. or the Citizens' Hose Co. Auxiliary, P.O. Box 97, Smyrna DE 19977.
