Samuel C. Holmes

Samuel C. Holmes, 82 DOVER - Samuel C. Holmes, 82, of Dover, died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the residence of his daughter. Born in Elmer, N.J., he was the son of the late Rev. Lucian A. Holmes and Bessie Braxton Holmes. He was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee, and choir member. Prior to retiring, he was self employed as a drywall mechanic. Loving memories will be cherished by two sons, Larry (Karen) Holmes of Tampa, Fla., and Allen (Dee) Holmes of Apex, N.C.; one daughter, Debrah (Larry) Robinson of Ronoke Rapids, N.C.; one brother, Rev. Clifton V. Holmes of Dover; one sister, Cecelia Glenn of Dover; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends. He will lie in repose from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 27, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Slaughter Street, Dover. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Salem, N.J. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by the Lewis N.
