Salvador Ortiz

HOUSTON - Salvador "Sal" Ortiz passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Del. He was born in San Sabastian, Puerto Rico on April 24, 1948 son of the late Emilio and Paula Guzman- Ortiz. He was one of eight siblings. He and his wife Juana moved to Delaware, from New Jersey, in 1983. He worked at Caesar Rodney School District as a Custodian and in maintenance for twenty three years before retiring. Two siblings and his son Anthony preceded him in death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milford. He loved fishing, crabbing, bingo and going to yard sales. He was a devoted family man and always willing to help anyone in need. Sal was a child at heart, always enjoyed playing with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Juana, and one son, Sal and wife Erica Ortiz, and five siblings: Angel, Confessor (Cookie), Sabastian and Eddie Ortiz (Lucy) and Nellie (Segundo) Saldana. Also, four grandsons: Tony, Cody, Alex and Dominic and many nieces and nephews, whom loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 1:00 in the Chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford where friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 for a viewing. Interment will be Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington, Delaware. The family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963.
