MILFORD - Sally J. Stratton, of Milford, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 78.
Sally was born in Milford, daughter of the late James E. and Lillie (Jewell) Peterson.
She was a machine operator for many years at Demco and retired in 1977.
Sally was a member of Lighthouse Christian Center in Milford.
She also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6483 Ladies Auxiliary, also in Milford.
Sally enjoyed playing the slots and playing with her great-grandchildren.
She loved life.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Vernotico; a grandson, Billy Joe Stratton; and her former husband, Carl Stratton Sr.
Her survivors include five children, Jack and Nita Stratton of Milford, Carla J. Lynch and Ron Scherer of Newark, Robert L. Stratton of Lewes, and Bill and Judy Stratton and Carl Stratton Jr., all of Milford; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pearl Breeding of Lincoln and Lillie Helmick of Milford.
A funeral service will be at noon Monday in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
Pastor Michael Mills will officiate.
