DOVER - Ruth R. Garrow, of Dover, passed away Thursday January 12, 2012, at Westminster Village in Dover. She was born on November 27, 1914, in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late Mary Matthew and Stephen Harvath. She moved to Delaware at a very young age and spent most of her life in Dover. Ruth retired after 25 years at Richardson & Robbins in 1975, and enjoyed her many years in retirement. She loved spending time in her yard and took pride in her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor with family friends and neighbors. She loved to cook and her family holiday dinners were always a special occasion. Throughout her life she had an amazing ability to recall events in her life as far back as first grade and "how it was" when she was growing up. It was always interesting and entertaining to hear her stories and how well her memory of the details was. Ruth will be remembered for her love, kindness and generosity to her family and friends. She was a very special lady and loved by all. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to Westminster Nursing Village and Hospice caregivers for the love and care she received during her time there. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Frederick Garrow in August 1956; her son, Robert Frank Garrow in 2009; and her siblings, Mary Harvath, Frank Harvath, John Harvath, Fay Feinsilver, Catherine Flizak and Sephen Harvath. She is survived by her daughter in law, Sheila Garrow; granddaughter and her husband, Tricia and John Martin; and great-granddaughter, Taryn Martin who will always have fond memories of her kindness and love for them. Remembrance service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, where family and friends may call one hour before the time of the service. Burial will be at Hartly Church Cemetery, Hartly, DE. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory be made to; Westminster Village, 1175 McKee Road, Dover, DE 19904 or Delaware Hospice, 911 DuPont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901.
