GREENWOOD - Ruth Ann Hamstead, of Greenwood, passed away on Feb. 24, surrounded by her family. Ruth Ann was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend prior to her passing from a long illness. Ruth Ann spent over two decades working in the Woodbridge School District assisting teachers in the development and mentoring of elementary school children and as the school's volunteer coordinator. She was also a life-long, dedicated and active member of the congregation and choir of the Greenwood United Methodist Church. Ruth Ann is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Ronald Hamstead; daughter, Tracy Kaiser and her husband Dan Kaiser of Dover; son, Jerry Hamstead of Landenberg, Pa.; and daughter, Lori James and her companion Leo Gracie of Dover. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jenna Lynn, Michael and Cole; a sister, Mary Lou Hurd; and brother, Ronald Hatfield. Friends are invited to call on Monday, Feb. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Greenwood United Methodist Church, West Market & Church Streets, Greenwood. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, starting at 11 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood.
