Ruth Ann Armstrong, 79

MILFORD - Ruth Ann Armstrong of Milford died Sunday, April 1, 2007, in the Milford Center. She was 79.

Ruth was born in Henderson, Md., daughter of the late Floyd and Edith (Reynolds) Allen.

She worked at Sussex Co., Milford, retiring after 27 years.

Ruth attended the Church of the Nazarene in Milford.

She was a member of the Harrington Senior Center and the "Strikettes" Bowling League at Milford Bowling.

Ruth enjoyed playing bingo and was a true fan at the Milford Little League Park. She also loved dogs and cats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Armstrong Sr., in 1984; a son, Joseph Armstrong Jr.; and a sister, Jeanette Wilcutts.

She is survived by her children, Donnie Dickerson and his wife Pat of Ellendale, Jerrie Williams and his wife Carolyn of Houston, Sandra Freeman and her husband Gary of Greenwood, and Kenny Armstrong and his wife Susan of Southerland, Va.; two sisters, Charlotte Millman of Greenwood and Margaret Hurd of Viola; two brothers, Floyd James Allen and his wife Hilda of Greenwood, and Howard Allen and his wife Susan of Southerland; 10 grandchildren, George Freeman, Sheri Freeman, Eric Armstrong, Brendon Armstrong, Shane Dickerson, Shawn Poltrock, Denise Williams, Jerry Williams Jr., Amber Workman and Andrew Syester; four great-grandchildren; and a longtime true friend, Gail Greenley of Lincoln.

Memorial services will be Thursday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 5 p.m.

Burial will be private.

Contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to the Milford Little League, P.O. Box 404, Milford, DE 19963.
