GREENWOOD - Ruby I. Venable passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
She was born on July 20, 1937 the daughter of the late Garnett and Mildred Killen Venable.
She worked at General Foods/Kraft Foods for 32 years, retiring in 1997. She also worked at Laytex, and on the family farm for many years. She was always a hard worker.
Ruby enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to church, going out to breakfast, going to the slots, crocheting, playing cards, word searches, watching the soaps with her daughter, taking care of her chickens, reading, gardening, and spending time with Poppy and Snowball the family pets.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Brian; and three brothers, Raymond, Harold, and Ralph.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry (Travis) Norman; grandchildren, Clay, William, and Harley. She was like a mother to many more.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Greenwood UMC, 101 W. Market St., Greenwood, DE 19950, a viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m.
Interment will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.
