Royal Lee Boyer, 74
Royal Lee Boyer passed away on October 9, 2023, at home surrounded by family after a long battle with illness. Royal was born in Dover, Delaware to the late Elizabeth and John Boyer.
Royal graduated from Dover High School from the class of 1967. He then attended Wesley College and the University of Delaware. He began working in the telecommunications industry. He worked as a district sales manager for Gannett until he retired due to illness in 2017. His greatest achievement was being the Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Ameritrend in Pompano Beach, Florida. He also served in the Army National Guard Reserves, earning the rank of E-2. In his free time, Royal enjoyed fishing, watching Nascar and college football at UD, the Eagles, and the Phillies.
In addition to his parents; Royal was preceded in death by his brother, Donald E. Boyer (2003); sisters, Shirley Moore (2005) and Barbara Brown (2022); and cousin, Lois Miller (2021).
Royal is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Lily; sons, Jason and Jared Tootell of Solana Beach, CA, and Joshua Tootell of Virginia; step-children, Christine Janvier of Wilmington, DE and Jason Janvier of Rockford, IL; and grandchildren, Tanner and Myles Janvier.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Torbert Funeral South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. (Rt. 10), Dover. A viewing will be held from 10-11am.
