DOVER - Roy W. Wyatt Sr., passed away peacefully ready to meet the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. He was 91. Mr. Wyatt was born June 30, 1917 in Hickory, Va., the son of George and Laura Shelton Wyatt. He worked for Sussex Poultry Company in Milford for many years and later for Playtex in Dover for 18 years. Mr. Wyatt was a member of the Farmington VFD, the Elks Lodge in Dover, and the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Harrington. He enjoyed traveling, especially visiting his brother in Florida. He liked going to Spence's sales and was a collector of everything. He liked spending time fishing on his boat, and attending family reunions, where he loved to eat. He was an avid gardener, giving away many of his crops. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Wyatt in 2005; a daughter, Joan Wyatt; seven brothers, Clyde, Charles, Ray, George, Cecil, Frederic, and Othel; and four sisters, Hazel Trice, Marguerite Brubaker, Edna Hayes, and Evelyn Root. He is survived by his four children and spouses, Roy W. Jr. and Gloria Wyatt, of Mystic, Conn., Betty and Robert Pardee, of Harrington, Russell Wyatt, of Leander, Texas, and Lottie and Kenneth Pase, of Felton; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Beebe, of Starr, Md.; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St., Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery in Harrington.
