SEAFORD - A devout Christian, Roy Carl Ingram, 83, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 6, 2011, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. In his final moments, he was comforted by his devoted wife of 58 years, formerly Grace Pinnix of North Wilksboro, N.C., and his loving daughter, Cindy Ingram Bice of Seaford. Born in Pike, W.Va., on Sept. 16, 1927, Roy was the son of the late Carl Roy Ingram of Cleveland, Ohio, and the late Hazel Midkiff of Seaford. To all who knew him, Roy was a gentle, humble, selfless man; he devoted his life to hard work. After serving in the Merchant Marines as a Lieutenant just after World War II until 1948, Roy worked for the Dupont Company in Seaford for 42 years, where he was the Supervisor of the BCF. Shortly after his retirement, he began driving a school bus in the Seaford District for students with disabilities. Beloved by all of the students he chauffeured for 15 years, he was fondly known as "Pop-Pop Roy." He had been a Mason of the Seaford Lodge since 1956 and a loyal member of the First Baptist Church in Seaford. Roy's passions in life were: his church, fast cars (usually convertibles), long hours of working in his yard, and, above all, his family. Roy is survived by his adoring wife, Grace Ingram; his two children, Steve Ingram and his wife Christie of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Cindy Ingram Bice of Seaford; and his three beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, and Nicholas. He will be dearly missed by his surviving siblings, Virginia Albert of Salisbury, Md., and Ida Marroni of Odessa. Six months ago, he was preceded in death by his youngest sibling, Ellen Ingram Fretterd of Federalsburg, Md. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the First Baptist Church 543 North Bradford Street, Seaford, Del. 19973. The Reverend Michael A. Hopkins and Reverend John R. Hancock will officiate. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Roy's six nephews, Bob Brooks, Tommy Gillespie, Richard Hastings, J.C. Marroni, Bruce Patrick, and Chris Earls will serve as pallbearers. A reception will be held at the First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church in Roy's memory. Cranston Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
