DOVER-Rosemary Tull Hastings, died on Monday, January 5, 2015 at State Street Assisted Living where she had been a resident for eight years. Born October 16, 1918 at Sycamore Farms, Laurel, to Martin and Rose Johnson, she had nine siblings, all deceased. She is also predeceased by husbands, Harlan Tull Sr., of Delmar, and Rudolph Hastings, of Laurel. Mrs. Hastings had five children, Harlan Jr. and Phyllis Tull, Ronald and Carolyn Tull, Rose Marie and Andrew Murray, James and Carol Lee Tull, and John Tull (partner Carolyn Yamasaki). She will be greatly missed by her 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grands and seven great-great-grands. She will also be missed by her superb caregivers at State Street Assisted Living. Rosemary attended the rural one room school ".The Dorothy School" in early years and graduated from Laurel High School. She raised her five children and retired from the State of Del. as tax auditor in Georgetown. Proud to be a lifelong Democrat, she held several offices in the Sussex County Democratic Party. She also hosted aspiring, then successful Senatorial candidates Joe Biden and Tom Carper, providing them lodging before the advent of hotels/motels in Georgetown for several years, plus a party place on Returns Day. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, Del. 19901.
