Rose Elma Newsome, 69
WORTON, Md. - Rose Elma Newsome of Worton, Md., went home to be with the Lord June 13, 2007, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown, Md. She was 69.
Mrs. Newsome was born in Cliff City, Md. on Nov. 27, 1937, daughter of Flora Mae Dickerson Whiteley and the late Paul Edward Whiteley.
She was raised in Quaker Neck, Md. and for the last 26 years has lived in Worton.
Mrs. Newsome enjoyed antiquing and had owned and operated The Attic, an antique store in Chestertown, Md. She was a member of Chestertown Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Carroll Simpler Jr.; and a brother, David A. Whiteley.
She is survived by her mother Flora Mae Whiteley of Surprise, Ariz.; her husband of 26 years, Richard L. Newsome Sr.; five children, William Whiteley and his wife, Ginger of Chestertown, Rose Lynn Coleman Gleockler and her husband, Fred Jr. of Ridgely, Md., Deborah Newsome Legg and her husband, Robert of Still Pond, Richard Newsome Jr. and Todd Gregory Newsome, both of Worton; a brother, Paul E. Whiteley, Jr. of Independence, Va.; two sisters, Phyllis Lawson of Surprise, Ariz.., and Mary Jacoby of Goodyear, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Monday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday.
