SMYRNA - Rose E. Martin, of Smyrna, formerly of Crumpton, Md., died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in her home. She was 99.
Mrs. Martin was born June 16, 1908, in Wilmington, daughter of the late John H. and Abbey E. (Dilkes) Miller.
She lived in Wilmington, where she raised her daughter, before moving her family to Crumpton in 1963.
Mrs. Martin was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1 in Wilmington.
In 2004 she moved to Smyrna where she lived with her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Walter B. Martin, in 1982; and her brother, John Henry Miller III.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Hurd and her husband Carl of Smyrna; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hurd Connell and her husband William Sr. of Kennedyville, Md., and Carllene Hurd and her husband Richard E. Berman of Smyrna; and a great-grandson, William Connell Jr.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today in Crumpton Cemetery.
Memorials may be offered to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
