DENTON, Md. - Rodney R. Holsinger, of Denton, died on Sunday, July 19, 2009, at his home. He was 84. Born on Holsinger Lane in Ridgely on March 6, 1925, Mr. Holsinger was the son of the late Harry E. Holsinger and Gertrude R. Holsinger. His wife, Helen Ruth Sherwood Holsinger, died Dec. 6, 2003. Mr. Holsinger was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He owned and operated Holsinger, Inc. of Denton as a small engine repair shop for over forty years. He was a member of the Denton Church of the Brethren; he was active with Boy Scout Troop 165 including being a past scoutmaster; and he was a past member of the Denton Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Holsinger is survived by two sons, Rodney W. Holsinger and his wife Mary of Braintree, England, and Dr. Rowland S. Holsinger and his wife Patricia of Denton; one sister, Miriam Butler of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and two granddaughters, Rebecca H. Holsinger and Allison H. Holsinger. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his older sister, Vivian Altemus of Newark, Del. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, at the Denton Church of the Brethren at 108 South Seventh Street in Denton where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Immediately following the service, friends and family will gather in the Fellowship Hall of the Denton Church of the Brethren. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending memorial donations to the Denton Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 484, Denton, MD 21629; or to Boy Scout Troop 165, C/O Mr. Walter Palmer, 108 Market St., Denton, MD.
