TOWNSEND - Robert "Bob" William Jones passed away suddenly Fri., Nov. 6, 2015 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was born April 13, 1949 in New York, NY, the son of the late Mason Jones and Lois Sofield. He served his country with honors in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Jones retired from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Fish and Wildlife as an Aquatic Resources Education Coordinator. He enjoyed hunting with his daughter, fishing and crabbing, and spending time with his family. He also prided himself with community involvement including serving those in need. Bob was a Past President and Life Member of Citizens' Hose Company No. 1 of Smyrna, as well as a Past Captain and Life Member of the American Legion Ambulance Station 64 of Smyrna. He was an EMS Instructor at Delaware State Fire School. He was also a member of the VFW Post 8801 of Smyrna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Adam Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Karen; his loving daughter and best friend, Sarah; his granddaughter, Victoria Malin; three brothers, Roy Sofield, David Sofield and Tommy Sofield; his sister, Lori Cheeseman; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. A viewing will be held on Sat., Nov. 14, 2015 from 10 am to 12 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna. Bob's family requests that everyone please wear casual attire as Bob would have liked that. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Citizens' Hose Company, P.O. Box 97, Smyrna, DE 19977 or to the American Legion Ambulance Service, 900 Smyrna-Clayton Blvd., Smyrna, DE 19977.
