DOVER - Robert W. Pekrul of Dover passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, at the age of 85. Mr. Pekrul was born December 12, 1928 in Cheshire, Connecticut to the late Robert Pekrul and Anna Nass Pekrul. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Pekrul worked as an industrial electrician for Waterbury Farrell Foundry & Machine Company of Waterbury, Conn., for 37 years and Highland Manufacturing of Wolcott, Conn. for another ten years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dover, and previously of Cheshire Lutheran Church in Connecticut. He was a lifetime member of the German-American Club of Bristol, Conn., and of VFW Post #10052 in Cheshire. Mr. Pekrul enjoyed long walks, gardening, old movies, meeting friends for coffee, traveling, and completing various home improvement projects. His greatest pleasure, however, was found in spending time with family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Olga Chabot, Evelyn Luchene, Alma Copes, Gertrude Pekrul and Eleanor Leslie. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian Pompa Pekrul of Dover; daughter, Kristen DiLorenzo and her husband Anthony of Rocky Hill, Conn.; daughter, Susan Miller and her husband Herbert, their son Adam and his wife Heidi, of Baltimore, Md.; and son, Mark Pekrul and his wife Wendy, and children Caroline and Robert, of Ellicott City, Md.; sister, Mildred Connolly and her husband Joe of Naugatuck, Conn.; brothers-in-law, John Luchene and Kenneth Leslie, of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 113 Lotus Street, Dover. The family will receive visitors at the church at 10 a.m. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, or the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
