SEAFORD - Robert "Bob" Purnell Vickery, of Seaford, passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was 88. Bob was born in Chester, Pa., son of the late Samuel and Mary (Holland) Vickery. Bob worked as a civilian aerospace engineer with the government, in Army research. He was a Navy veteran. Bob enjoyed football and was an avid Eagles fan. He loved bird watching and model airplanes, enjoyed gardening and was known as a Mr. Fix-It, as he also loved to work on things. In addition to his parents, a sister, Evelyn and brother, Bill, precede him in death. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Katherine (Fleetwood) Vickery; a son, Rodney D. Vickery and wife Regina, of Furlong, Pa.; a daughter, Robin L. White, of Milton; and four grandchildren, Rebecca and Kevin Vickery, Trevor R. Reed and A.J. White. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, where friends may call from Noon- 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
