Robert O. Davenport, 84
CLAYTON - Robert O. Davenport of Clayton, and Dunnellon, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover after a long illness. He was 84.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1922, in Plymouth, Pa., one of four sons of the late George F. and May Josephine (Atwood) Davenport.
Mr. Davenport was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy as First Class Petty Officer from 1942 until 1948.
Mr. Davenport was a welder by trade for more than 40 years.
He was a member of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Middletown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Lewis and Andrew; and his first wife of 41 years, Dorothy S. Davenport.
Mr. Davenport is survived by his loving second wife, Arretta (Wiley) Davenport of Townsend; his brother, William Whitney Davenport of Dunnellon; five children, Robert George Davenport of Seaford, William Lewis Davenport and his wife Vicki of Clayton, James Andrew Davenport and Jeffrey Mark Davenport, both of Seaford and Donna Lee (Davenport) Glisson of Felton; three stepchildren, Glen Wiley, Terry Wiley, and Daniel Wiley; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be noon Monday in Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 13 Pennington St., Middletown, where family and friends may call one hour prior.
A reception will be held at the church immediately following services.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Maple Hill Cemetery, 68 E. St. Mary's Road, Wilkes Barre, Pa.
