FELTON - Robert Morris DeLong Sr., of Felton, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. He was 81.
Mr. DeLong was born in Felton, the son of the late Ira and Pearl (Marker) DeLong.
He was a plant supervisor at Swift and Co., Felton, for 33 years, retiring in 1977. From 1978-1989 he worked for Warfel Construction Co. where he was known by the guys as "Pop-Pop."
He was a Life Charter Member at Felton Fire Co.
He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, gardening and going to the beach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Hastings; and brother, Richard DeLong.
He was survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Casper DeLong; two sons, Robert M. DeLong and his wife Brenda of Milford and Robert M. DeLong III of Felton; one daughter, Angela DeLong of Felton; five great-grandchildren, Jordan Gibeault, Nathan Gibeault, Dylan DeLong, Ethan DeLong, and Morgan Wheeler; a brother, William DeLong of Felton; and a sister, Arlene McCullough of Harrington.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Felton, where friends may call Thursday night from 6-8 p.m.
Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
