CHURCH HILL, Md. - Robert Morris, 81, of Church Hill, Md. died on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Born in Greensboro, Md. on December 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Ellwood and Cora V. Cole Morris. Mr. Morris served in the U.S. Army in Amberg, Germany, where he met his wife, the former Anneliese Schmid, whom he married on March 2, 1957. In November of the same year, he was honorably discharged, and the couple made their home in Ingleside, Md., where he farmed on the Merrick Farm until 1971, when they purchased Dogwood Farm in Church Hill. Mr. Morris operated the farm until his retirement in 1994. He then worked with Queen Anne's County as a driver with the Department of Aging until 2010. Mr. Morris loved hunting, playing golf, shooting skeet and spending time with his family. He was a member of VFW Post 652 in Millington, Md., the senior golf leagues at Hog Neck and Blue Heron, and the Sudlersville Skeet Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Anneliese, of Church Hill, Md.; his children, Cindy Marvil and her husband, Eddie, of Laurel, Del., Shirley Bartlett and her husband, Lester, of Baltimore, Md., Steve Morris and his wife, Grace, of Church Hill, Md., and Jeffrey Morris and his wife, Marsha, of Church Hill, Md.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert John Morris, who died in 1984. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, Md., where friends and family may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Burial will follow at Church Hill Cemetery, Church Hill, Md.
